デスクトップ用途のディストロ選び

優先順位順に、debrpmかpotargeで管理。i686クラスでmakeしたパッケージの揃ったのを使いたい。ということでdestro watchで検索してみた。

  • 1. LiVux

LiVux is a live CD with a collection of educational software. Based on Knoppix and created in Valencia, Spain.

Parsix GNU/Linux is a live CD based on Knoppix and Debian. It uses GNOME as its default desktop environment. Parsix GNU/Linux supports Persian keyboard and user can switch to Persian with Alt+Ctrl or Ctrl+Shift keys. We also included xFarDic English-Persian dictionary and Persian free fonts from FarsiWeb and FPF projects.

Haansoft Linux is a Korean Linux distribution based on Fedora Core. It is developed by Haansoft, a member of the Asianux consortium and a leading developer of Linux-based software in South Korea.

Ignalum is located in Markham, Ontario, Canada. The privately held company was founded in the year 2002 with a vision of creating a cost-effective, installation-friendly, complete Linux-based operating environment offering full Windows compatibility. Ignalum Linux is a complete, Red Hat and RPM-based operating system optimized for the i686-class processors. It contains an easy to use installation program, extensive online documentation, and a menu-driven package system. A full installation gives you the X Window System, C/C++ development environments, Perl, networking utilities, a mail server, a news server, a web server, an ftp server, the GNU Image Manipulation Program, OpenOffice Suite, Netscape Communicator, plus many more programs. LormaLinux is developed by the MIS Department of Lorma Colleges in the Philippines. It is built on top of Red Hat Linux - recompiled and optimized for the i686 computers, so it is faster and leaner. Perfect as a workstation and it comes on only 1 CD. It also contains software from the Linux Terminal Server Project (LTSP) for setting up diskless workstations. It uses KDE for its desktop environment and is constantly being updated. LormaLinux is a full-featured Linux distribution specifically made for ease of use and functionality.

Gentooベース

Gentoo Linux is a versatile and fast, completely free Linux distribution geared towards developers and network professionals. Unlike other distros, Gentoo Linux has an advanced package management system called Portage. Portage is a true ports system in the tradition of BSD ports, but is Python-based and sports a number of advanced features including dependencies, fine-grained package management, "fake" (OpenBSD-style) installs, safe unmerging, system profiles, virtual packages, config file management, and more.

GentooTH Live CD/USB Linux is a Gentoo-based Russian/Ukrainian distribution designed to run from a CD or a USB storage device.

Mayix is a Gentoo-based Linux live CD with GNOME as its default desktop. The project also develops a "stage4" CD, which allows users to install a full Gentoo Linux desktop system in under one hour.

  • 6. Navyn OS

Navyn OS is a GNU/Linux distribution based on Gentoo. It is a live CD which can be booted from a CD-ROM, but it can also be installed on hard disk. Most applications included with Navyn OS have very low resource requirements.

  • 7. Pardus

Pardus Live CD, a bootable CD edition of the Pardus National Operating System, has been announced and distributed to the participants of Akademik Bilisim in Gaziantep University. The live CD includes Linux kernel, office tools (word processor, spreadsheet editor, presentation tool, etc.), Internet tools (browser, e-mail, instant messaging, relay chat etc. clients), multimedia and graphics tools (video player, music player, etc.), games and lots of other applications. Pardus is open source and freely distributed as a GPL (General Public License) product.

Ututo GNU/Linux is a CD-based Linux distribution developed by Diego Saravia at the Universidad Nacional de Salta in Argentina and based on Gentoo Linux. Ututo is named after a fidgety local lizard that pokes its nose into every hole and is never at rest. UTUTO-e is a high performance desktop system based on Gentoo Linux (the "e" stands "escritorio", or "desktop" in Spanish) designed to be used by home/office users, developers, organisations and government users. Ututo is based exclusively on Free/Libre Software.

VLOSが気になる。でも既存の環境で使ってるぶんにはいいけど、新しいソフト入れたりしたとき、トラブルかも?っていうレビューがちょっと気になった。



最初からデスクトップ環境が揃っててGentooなVLOSが候補。それと、Pasixは日本語環境構築が楽そうだし、ロゴが格好いいから候補。あ、そういえばmomongaとか、まえに検索したときに出てきたはずだけど、今Fedora系で検索しても出てない? どうしても最近使ってないrpm系を避けてしまってる…。
